Domestic and Sexual Violence Partnership Strategy Consultation

0%

Introduction

The Domestic Abuse Act 2021 was introduced to address Local Authority response to the provision of support for victims of domestic abuse. Key elements include:

  • Local authorities are required to ensure that victims of domestic abuse and their children have access to safe accommodation and support services
  • Local authorities should prepare and publish a strategy for the provision of such support to cover their area having regard to the needs assessment
  • Local authorities should give effect to the strategy (through commissioning / decommissioning decisions)
  • Local authorities should monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the strategy

Purpose of this consultation

Work has begun across the partnership to develop a refreshed Domestic and Sexual Violence Partnership Strategy for 2025 - 2028 and we would now like your views on this.

You can view the draft strategy and / or the summary document by clicking on the links below:

We would also like to gain your views and seek your suggestions on our safe accommodation and support services. The feedback provided will inform our refreshed strategy as well as our review of the safe accommodation service model for 2026 and beyond. The current safe accommodation contract is due to expire in March 2026 and the council will need to ensure from this point it can meet the needs of victims and survivors effectively whilst providing value for money to ensure it complies with its duty under the Domestic Abuse Act (2021).

Virtual and in-person workshops with victims, survivors, children, young people, families and professionals are also taking place as part of this consultation.

Following the results of the consultation the draft domestic abuse and sexual violence partnership strategy and the safe accommodation service model will be reviewed, taking account of all the feedback received.
