Community Equipment Service Consultation

Purpose of the consultation

Community Equipment is provided to patients, social care users, people with disabilities, and those recovering after an illness or an accident. This equipment includes a range of aids to help people live independently and safely, and includes things like bath lifts, mobile hoists, beds, mattresses, raised toilet seats and commodes.

Community Equipment in Cheshire East is provided by Cheshire East Council, and by South Cheshire, East Cheshire and Vale Royal Clinical Commissioning Groups under a partnership arrangement. These partners are proposing to change the model of delivery of these Community Equipment services in Cheshire East, to make the service more efficient, and to offer better quality for local people.

Demand for the service is expected to increase in the future as the population in Cheshire East ages - the proportion of the population aged 65 and over in the borough is estimated to increase by 25% by 2030 (from 86,900 people to 108,900 people).
