Cycle and Walking Route Extension - CREWE

Proposed Crewe cycle and walking route extension

We are planning to introduce a new cycle and walking route beside the A530 in Crewe. This will help improve access to employment and education sites for pedestrians and cyclists and provide opportunities for healthy living through physical activity.

The 1.9km route

The 1.9Km route would connect with the existing off road cycle and pedestrian route between Nantwich and Crewe, which emerges near the Rising Sun public house at Wistaston, also known as the Connect 2 cycle route.

The paved extended route, which would run along side the A530, would deliver an important cycling and walking route into the heart of the North West Crewe development area for residents and commuters providing a link from Crewe and Nantwich to:
  • new job opportunities
  • 1750 new homes
  • expanded Bentley Motors site which currently employs 4500 staff
  • Leighton Hospital
  • Leighton Academy
  • existing residential areas in Leighton and Wistaston
Details of the proposed Crewe cycle and walking route extension can be viewed

We would like to hear your views on the proposed scheme and the position beside the A530.
