Housing Allocations Policy Consultation 2026
 |
|
About this consultation
Cheshire East Council's Housing Service is reviewing the Housing Allocations Policy (also known as the Cheshire Homechoice Common Allocations Policy), which sets out how social housing is allocated in Cheshire East. The policy was last fully reviewed in 2018.
Social housing is in very high demand in Cheshire East, and it is important that homes are allocated fairly and to those most in need.
We are proposing a small number of updates to the policy to:
- Reflect recent changes in national legislation
- Address areas for improvement identified by the council and its housing partners
- Take account of feedback already received, including comments, complaints, and guidance from MPs and the Housing Ombudsman.
We are now asking for your views on these proposed changes. Your feedback will be carefully considered and used to shape the final version of the policy. A summary of consultation responses and the finalised policy will then be shared with councillors to inform their decision on whether to adopt the updated policy or not.
