Extension of Macclesfield Town Centre Public Spaces Protection Order - Public Consultation April 2025
In accordance with its duty under Section 72(3) of the Act, the Council would like to seek your views on the proposed extension of Macclesfield Town Centre Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO).
The PSPO took effect on 18th July 2022 and, unless extended again, will expire at midnight on 17th July 2025. The order covers activities in relation to the consumption of alcohol and Urination/Defecation within the restricted area. A copy of our current order and draft extension of the order can be found on the Cheshire East Website
At this stage the council is seeking to extend the order in its entirety with no amendments or changes.
The closing date for this consultation is 12 noon Tuesday 13th May 2025.
Please note: The section of the PSPO which relates to alcohol consumption is not an "alcohol banning order", but allows authorised officers to request alcohol sealed or unsealed is handed to them upon request. There are exemptions to areas where the consumption of alcohol has been authorised e.g. licensed premises and organised, licensed events/activities. Please see part 4 of the order for more information.
