In accordance with its duty under Section 72(3) of the Act, the Council would like to seek your views on the proposed extension of our Dog Fouling and Dog Control Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO), The PSPO took effect on 1st November 2017 and, unless extended, will expire at midnight on 31st October 2020. A copy of our current order can be found on the Cheshire East website.

At this stage the council is seeking to extend the order in its entirety with no amendments or changes. However; the council are aware that there may be some parks, and open spaces within the borough that might also benefit from more enhanced conditions (such as, number of dogs per owner, dogs on lead at all time zones etc).

The council are satisfied that due to restrictions we find ourselves in during this pandemic period it would not be appropriate to consult on or introduce any new prohibitions within our intent to extend other than those currently in place as our ability to consult, engage, educate and enforce at this time is restricted.

If our main order is extended following consultation, we will continue to liaise with representatives from these areas to discuss in more detail any extra requirements. If the council is satisfied we have evidence to pursue the possibility of additional conditions within specific parks and open areas then we will seek to vary the order accordingly making sure full consultation takes place as per its duties under section 61 and 72(3) of the Act.

A copy of our formal notice to extend can be read here
The closing date for this consultation is Monday 10 August 2020

If you have any questions or issues accessing this consultation then please contact the Anti-Social Behaviour Team on: 0300 123 50 30 (please note that during the current pandemic period, this contact number is a voicemail only facility which is regularly checked) or via email
